Athletes are always looking for an advantage over other legal or not. The methods currently popular among athletes is creatine, protein shakes, and caffeine.
As a high school athlete, I was looking for an advantage for a track meet. I read some things and everything (very old) said Caffeine will not help the sprinters. I do not think that my response time should improve. Towards a regional track meet, I stopped and have a coffee. I had never drunk before. And my drink was horrible. I hated it, and I lost all of myself. What gives me an advantage was almost eliminated Race of burns!
Products like Red Bull and Monster as water swallowed for many young athletes. How much caffeine is actually in these products (8 ounces)? One night I could probably sleep too much caffeine, so I decided to research in some drinks.

Title: The effects of caffeine on athletic agility
JOURNAL Strength and Conditioning Research 20 (4): 851-854 November 2006
Abstract: Caffeine has been shown to speed the time to improve anaerobic power and responsiveness, all aspects of agility States. The purpose of this study was to determine or an acute dose of caffeine, the agility and anaerobic power. Sixteen subjects participated in a randomized experiment, double-blind and made the race proagility and 30 seconds Wingate test 60 minutes after taking caffeine mg.kg (6 (-1)) or a placebo. No significant change was observed in the proagility executed after caffeine ingestion compared with placebo. Moreover, no significant change was observed in peak power, average power, or percent reduction in energy. Agility is an integral part of the athletic equity and reasonable method to improve flexibility will benefit active people. However, the results of this study indicate that 6 mg.kg (-1) dose of caffeine has no effect on skill, measured by output proagility test or power, as measured by the Wingate test of 30 seconds in recreational active young adult men who are not used caffeine.
Interpretation: First, a person of 70 kg (154 lbs) have taken 420 mg, or about 5 Red Bulls! However, for agility, there was no benefit. In short, if you do not change direction, caffeine will not help!
But wait, caffeine is not illegal in Olympic sports? In 2004 he was removed from the list of prohibited substances. Why? Well it was more than 12 micrograms of caffeine per milliliter in your urine be considered illegal. That amounts to about 5-6 cups of coffee just before event!
